PGA Junior Series
Arrives in Happy Valley
State College, Pa., - The 2010 PGA Junior Series is excited
to be back at Penn State Golf Course in State College, Pa., for a three day
tournament starting on Monday July 19th. The tournament will take place on the Blue
Course and will feature over 160 juniors from 16 different states and Canada.
The field is broken down into four divisions, two girls and
two boys, with ages ranging from 13-18. The Boys’ 16-18 and overall girl
winner will each earn a spot in the 35th Junior PGA Championship
held later this summer at Sycamore Hills Golf Club Aug. 2-5 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
All four divisions are going to be very exciting to watch
this week at Penn
State. In the Girls’ 16-18 Division, Devon Compton
of Rochester, Mich., is back in the field and looks to repeat as champion after
winning here last year.
She will have some tough competition with the likes of
Morgan Ransom of Columbus, Ohio,
also a PGA Junior Series winner, and Nadia Luttner of
Pittsburgh, Pa., who is a PGA Junior Series veteran.
In the Boys’ 16-18 Division, Colton
Wiggins of Indiana, Pa.,
is playing up a division after dominating last week in the Boys’ 13-15 Division
and will have to compete against a solid field filled with people from the
northeast.
The Blue Course at Penn State
is in tournament conditions with heavy rough and excellent greens. Players must keep it in the fairway this week
and hit the smaller than average size greens in regulation. The Blue Course recently held the Men’s 2009
Big Ten Championship and has also held numerous state tournaments, collegiate
tournaments, and local events.
This summer will also feature points awarded to the top-10
finishers who are American citizens at the nine PGA Junior Series events.
These points help players to qualify for the 7th Junior Ryder
Cup held in late September in Gleneagles,
Scotland.
The U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team will be comprised of six boys and six
girls who are American citizens and members of the high school graduating
class of 2011, or younger.
The PGA Junior Series is one of the premier junior circuit in the country hosting tournaments across the
country for the entire summer. It

promote the enjoyment of golf by junior golfers through affordable and
